1981 Mercedes-Benz 380 SL

Up for sale is an absolutely pristine 1981 Mercedes Benz 380SL. The vehicle was originally purchased at Stead Motors of Walnut Creek. It’s been registered in California to the original owners up until 2021. It was reported that the vehicle was used by the original owner almost exclusively for road trips to visit family in Northern California. 

With just 28,670 miles on the odometer this example easily qualifies for top tier condition. The entire vehicle has been incredibly well preserved. The body and paint are nearly perfect from bumper to bumper, the bright work is in excellent shape throughout, and all the glass is original and essentially perfect. Metal body work and chassis show no sign of ever being damaged and are free of rust. 

The interior is immaculate showing very little wear on all of the original materials, the wood trim is completely free of any cracks, the carpet is extremely fresh, and the only wear on the leather is in the driver's bolster. 

Early this year in preparation for sale the vehicle had an inspection and service that included: 

4 new shock absorbers

Valve cover gaskets

Transmission Shift Linkage bushings

Throttle Linkage bushings 

Sway bar links

The last oil change was under 200 miles ago

A/C blows VERY cold

Clock works

Windows work great

It is sold with two keys, all of its original documentation, original tool kit in the plastic, hardtop/tools, stereo tools, service records, registration cards from the 80’s, and original addressograph. All of which has been incredibly well preserved. It has a factory upgraded Alpine stereo system with all of it’s original documentation. 

It is absolutely wonderful to drive, passes smog with flying colors, and everything I've touched is working exactly like it should.
